about

This EP was recorded live using one microphone in a farmhouse from the 1870s in Palenville, NY July 2016. We were recording "Purgatory Road" (coming soon) by day and one night we felt inspired to record a few songs. One original we wrote that night, a Howlin Wolf song, one folk traditional, and two more originals.

Joe Makoviecki- 1952 Archtop Kay
James Black- 1960 Archtop Kay, slide

Track Name: Invocation
ghosts of the night
we beseech your soul
spirits of the plight
we relinquish all control
ghosts come at will
spirits come any
veni, spiritus, veni

shadows in the dark
we beckon your shade
from the tops of the catskills
to the bottom of the glade
ghost come at will
spirits come any
veni, spiritus, veni
come, spirits, come
veni, spiritus, veni
Track Name: Workingman Blues #3
i went working out east for a while
saw my best friends swiftly die
how do i cope in this land of sin?
most people don't even know what
kinda country they're in

what did i get for my sorrow?
no one can tell
i can throw myself to the bottom
of an alcoholic wishing well
but i know what
i was put here to do
put my head back down
sing a little bit of these working man blues

now i'm wondering
what will become of a man
in an election year when the winds they all turn bad?
oh, there is a darkness inside
something i cannot hide
sometimes i barely i think i can survive
when i'm at the end of the rope
and i don't know what i'm about to do
figure i put my head back down
sing a little bit of these working man blues

when i'm at the end of the rope
and i don't know what i'm about to do
i figure i'll put my head back down
sing a little bit of these working man blue
Track Name: It's Gonna Rain
miles upon miles
feels like a dream
been so long since i was seventeen
and i know i gotta roll
and i won't go insane
honey, i think that it's gonna rain

been so long since i was ten
i'll never go back down that road again
my life is a line stretched across a plain
honey, i think it's gonna rain
honey, i know that it's gonna rain

one little rose on the side of the road
no one plants the seed, it must be sewn
i promise i will change
you just stay the same
honey, i think it's gonna rain
